Admission Requirements in Nigeria
Candidates seeking to gain admission into Nigeria University or any other tertiary institution for that matter are required to have the followings:
O’Level Result
To be admitted to any Nigerian tertiary institution, you must first sit and obtain a Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). As you may already know, the SSCE can be issued by 3 different examination boards here in Nigeria. They are the West African Examination Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO), and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).
The candidate is expected to obtain at least 5 credits in one sitting or 6 credits in two sittings. These subjects should be relevant to the course the candidate wishes to study and they must include English Language and Mathematics. After receiving at least 6 credits from any of the above-mentioned examination bodies, the candidate should apply for the JAMB test.
JAMB Result
The candidate is also expected to write another entry examination known as the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) and should have over 200 JAMB scores to stand a good opportunity to gain admission easily in Nigeria.
While filling out the JAMB form, there are provisions for you to choose 2 universities, 2 polytechnics, and 2 colleges of education. Of course, some institutions are more competitive than others and that is why you should strive to make a higher JAMB score.

Post UTME
Now, after obtaining your O’ Level result and JAMB score, some schools require that you take an additional test known as Post Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
These 3 results may be computed to get a candidate’s aggregate score for admission into Nigeria’s higher institutions.
